Inspired by travelers’ busy lifestyles, Continuum deliberately designed every aspect of the Crowne Plaza in-room dining experience to be rewarding and appealing for guests.
Taking a cue from the Japanese bento box, Smartware is an innovative system of interlocking triangular dishes that keep food organized, quick to unpack and easy to enjoy.
Room service is more than delivering food to guests’ door. It’s an experience that encompasses the menu, ordering, plating, and delivery. Putting the guests’ needs first helped us design for both the functional and emotional needs of in-room dining. Efficient, flexible and organized, the Smartware system provides guests with an ideal dining experience on their own terms.
Understanding how guests eat in their rooms helped shape the food offering and menu. Designed around the guest’s needs rather than the time of day, the menu focuses on non-greasy items for working while eating, and food that is easy to eat in bed. The plates are designed to nestle comfortably beside a laptop and raised edges on all the dishes help visitors eat without spilling.
Taking a cue from the Japanese bento box, Smartware is an innovative system of interlocking triangular dishes that keep food organized, quick to unpack and easy to enjoy. Delivered in white boxes, servers can easily carry a complete meal in one hand and guests are presented with what feels like a gift.
Every detail of the Smartware system is intentionally designed. From silicone caps that keep fresh juice from spilling, to dishes that are easy to eat from while working, or watching TV in bed, or checking messages from friends. Smartware makes life away from home just a bit more enjoyable.
